What is Pilates?

Pilates was developed in the early 1900's by Joseph Pilates.  Pilates, originally designed on the mat, can also be done on the Pilates equipment - the Reformer, Tower, Chair, and Barrels.  Most of the equipment uses springs for weight resistance to strengthen and stretch the muscles.  Pilates focuses mainly on the center of the body, abs, glutes, and inner thighs, but it is a full body workout everytime.
